Course Overview

The hypertensive disorders of pregnancy represent the most significant complication of pregnancy affecting approximately 5% of all pregnancies and 11% of all first pregnancies . They continue to be a major cause of maternal, fetal and neonatal morbidity and mortality. Between 40 000– 70 000 maternal deaths annually worldwide are due to severe pre-eclampsia and eclampsia. The majority of these deaths occur in the developing world due to lack of technological and therapeutic intervention. This short course aims to help you understand more about these disorders and there prevention and management as a healthcare professional.
