Module Overview

The aim of this course is to be a practical guide for medical and nursing staff who are involved in looking after sick children. 

This course covers the relevant differences between neonates and adults.

Target Audience:

  • PICU Nurses 

  • Junior Paediatric Residents 

Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • Describe the Differences Between the Child, the Neonate and the Adult

  • Describe the respiratory rates in children by age

  • Describe the pulse rate and blood pressure by age

  • Describe the pharmacological response and understand the physiological differences that occur as neonates evolve to children and then adults

Various anatomical, physiological and pharmacological differences occur

The differences are significant and there is a continuous and variable change from the neonate onwards
