Module Overview

This module provides structured learning on identification, antenatal and postnatal management, nursing and medical care, referral protocols, and prevention of the most prevalent congenital anomalies. 

General Competency:
Equip learners with knowledge and clinical judgment skills for effective identification, management, and prevention of common congenital anomalies.

Module Learning Objectives:
By the end of the module, students should be able to:

  1. Describe the embryological and pathological basis of each congenital anomaly.
  2. Identify clinical presentations of each anomaly in neonates and infants.
  3. Discuss diagnostic investigations relevant to each anomaly.
  4. Outline medical, surgical, and nursing management options.
  5. Apply antenatal and postnatal preventive strategies to reduce incidence.
  6. Recognize the need for multidisciplinary care and timely referral.
  7. Educate caregivers on home care and long-term outcomes.
